The hidden layer that keeps wind-driven rain out of your walls: wrap, tape and flashing installed in the right order.
Behind every good siding job is a layer most people never see. House wrap and flashing form the weather barrier that stops wind-driven rain, which gets behind every kind of siding, from reaching the sheathing and framing. Siding is the first line of defense, but it is the barrier behind it that actually keeps the wall dry. When it is missing, torn or installed backwards, walls can hold moisture and rot in places no one sees for years.
We install wrap from the bottom up so each layer laps over the one below like shingles, tape seams and penetrations, flash windows and doors in the correct order and integrate the wrap with roof edges, decks and foundations. Details like sill pans, head flashing and tape around fasteners matter far more than the brand of wrap. If your siding is coming off, this is the moment to fix the barrier. We show you photos of the walls before we cover them back up.
Each course of wrap overlaps the one below, so water is always led down and out, never in.
Seams and penetrations are taped, which keeps wind-driven rain from sneaking behind the wrap.
Sills, jambs and heads of windows and doors are flashed in order, the most common weak point in any wall.
We photograph the finished barrier so you can see what the siding is protecting.
