Panels peeled back, boards ripped off and trim loosened by high winds, repaired quickly and secured to resist the next storm.
Strong winds find the weak points in a wall. A loose corner, an underfastened panel or an edge that was never locked in properly can peel back in a gust and open the wall to rain. Vinyl siding is particularly prone to this when it was nailed tight or installed without enough nailing hem engagement. Wind also drives debris into walls, tears off trim and can lift soffit and fascia that were poorly fastened.
We secure the house first, with temporary protection if the sheathing is exposed, and then inspect the damage and what caused it. Sometimes a panel simply needs to be relocked and fastened. Sometimes the pieces are cracked and need to be replaced, and sometimes a pattern of loose siding suggests the original installation needs to be corrected across the wall. We repair damage, correct fastening problems and recommend improvements, such as better wrap or stronger trim, so the next storm finds less to grab.
Open walls are covered quickly so rain does not soak the sheathing and insulation.
We look at nailing, laps and edges to see why the wind got in and whether the problem is more widespread.
Damaged pieces are replaced and loose ones are refastened properly, with the right fasteners and spacing.
Trim, corners and soffit are upgraded where needed so the next storm has less to work with.
Secure and protect.
Fix the weak point.
Locked in right.
Less to catch the wind.
