Classic horizontal planks in vinyl, fiber cement or wood, installed level with even reveals and sharp corners.
Horizontal lap siding is the look most people picture when they think of a house. Long planks overlap like a clapboard wall, shedding water down and out, and the horizontal lines make a home feel wide and grounded. The same idea comes in many forms, from narrow traditional clapboard and wide Dutch lap to smooth, beaded and hand-scraped textures, in vinyl, fiber cement, engineered wood and cedar.
Because the lines run the full length of the wall, any error shows. We start from a level reference line, check it against the eaves and openings, adjust the layout so courses land evenly at windows and the roof line and keep the reveal consistent across every wall. Corners are built with proper posts or boards, butt joints are staggered and flashed where they should be, and trim is installed to look crisp and last. The result is a house that reads straight and settled from every angle.
We set the first course with a laser or level so the whole wall stays straight, even on older homes with settled foundations.
Courses are adjusted so the exposure stays the same and lands neatly at windows, doors and eaves.
Butt joints are spread out and kept away from the eye so the wall looks continuous.
